Our mission remains focused on helping girls set and achieve S.M.A.R.T. goals. Building on this foundation, our new enrichment curriculum for pre-teen girls, EmpowerHer, is a 12-week, school-based enrichment mentoring program operated through Teens Have Visions 2. The program is specifically designed to support and empower 5th-grade girls through personal development, confidence-building, and life-skills education.
Our enrichment curriculum was intentionally designed to meet the unique needs of pre-teen girls, informed by our ongoing, hands-on support and engagement with girls throughout our community. The curriculum aims to strengthen social skills, personal development, and emotional awareness by guiding participants through practical and empowering experiences.
Through this program, girls are supported in developing S.M.A.R.T. goals, building self-confidence, practicing positive thinking, strengthening effective communication, and learning essential life skills. Journaling is also incorporated as a reflective tool to encourage self-expression, emotional processing, and personal growth.

Journaling is a core component of the EmpowerHer enrichment curriculum and serves as a safe, guided space for girls to express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Through age-appropriate prompts and reflective activities, participants learn how to put their feelings into words, build emotional awareness, and develop healthy ways to process everyday challenges. To further encourage self-expression, girls also enjoy a creative activity where they recreate and personalize the cover of their journal.
This hands-on experience allows participants to express their individuality, creativity, and identity while building a deeper personal connection to their journaling practice. By designing the “face” of their journal, girls are reminded that their journal is their own safe space—unique, meaningful, and reflective of who they are.

Participants gain hands-on experience with Hands-Only CPR, learning when to call for help, how to recognize an emergency, and the importance of acting quickly and safely. Girls are guided through proper techniques using practice demonstrations to help build confidence and understanding.
In addition, the lesson includes first aid basics and hand hygiene education, teaching girls how germs spread, why proper handwashing matters, and how small actions can help prevent illness and injury.

This lesson encourages participants to understand the power of their words, thoughts, and attitudes in shaping how they see themselves and interact with others.
Girls learn how positive self-talk can influence emotions, decision-making, and personal growth. Through guided discussion and reflection, participants begin to identify negative self-thoughts and replace them with affirming, empowering language.
As part of this lesson, girls participate in a self mirror talk activity, where they practice speaking positive affirmations to themselves. .
